RIMERSBURG, Pa. (EYT) – A truck driver faces criminal charges after allegedly spending nearly two hours at a Rimersburg gas station and defacing a fuel pump with graffiti while taking photos of the damage, according to police.
Court records indicate that 31-year-old Steven Dmark Ortiz, of Media, Pa., was charged with second-degree misdemeanor criminal mischief for reportedly vandalizing a pump at the UK Gas Station in Rimersburg on August 14, 2024.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Southern Clarion County Regional Police officer Robert M. Kelly, surveillance footage revealed Ortiz, driving a box truck, entering the store multiple times while acting suspiciously before writing undecipherable markings and spraying blue paint on the pump around 11:20 p.m.
Officer Robert Kelly tracked down Ortiz through the trucking company’s DOT number visible on the vehicle. The company shares an address with Ortiz in Media, Pa.
According to the criminal complaint, Ortiz remained at the station from 9:43 p.m. until 11:26 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, with the video showing him photographing and “laughing at the damage” before departing.
Ortiz is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on November 12, at 9:00 a.m., before Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller.
