A portion of Routes 1 & 9 in Elizabeth remains closed Monday morning hours after a petroleum tanker truck crashed and caught fire, officials said.
The crash took place on the southbound side at about 5:30 a.m. near Fillmore Street, a city spokeswoman and the state Department of Transportation said.
No one was seriously hurt, the spokeswoman said, adding “occupants are being treated on scene.”
She didn’t immediately say how many people were hurt. A video from News 12 shows a tanker and an SUV in flames.
The Elizabeth Fire Department remains on the scene shortly after 8 a.m, the city official said.
